ABOUT

In contrast to Levi, who's managed to take the place of weirdest guy in Coldwood, his manager, Avery, is somehow the most normal guy in town. While most have gone a little stir crazy in some form from how hard it is to really travel outside of Coldwood, as well as being surrounded by other people who've gone a little mad, Avery's actually handled it perfectly. He's managed to be well-adjusted enough that he almost stands out just as much as some of the weirder residents. Mostly known around town for being very welcoming, and also for the backyard get-togethers he's often hosting. He loves getting to grill for people, the fact it also encourages people to visit and stay loyal to the store he's managing is a bit of a bonus as well, even if it wasn't the intention.

Height:6'2" Eyes:Light Brown
Build:Toned Complexion:Brown
Hair Style:Messy Bun Hair Color:Brown
  • Main ref is his work outfit, outside of work he's often dressing like a suburban dad stereotype, lots of colorful patterned t-shirts, polos, and short sleeved button-ups with either jeans or shorts. Stuff that's both comfy and easy to exercise in!
  • Tends to have whatever Lynxon's version of a fitbit is on.
  • Usually only lets his hair down while at home

PERSONALITY

Avery is overall a pretty chill person to be around. He often talks pretty calmly, likes cracking jokes, and enjoys inviting big groups of people over to come eat with him in his yard. The weirdest thing about him his just his crazy tolerance for the things that happen around town, he's got Levi for an employee, nothing surprises him anymore, it never really did in the first place anyway. He's very sociable, and knows a lot of people around town, he's not always necessarily friends with all of them, but he's always friendly at the least.

At work he's a pretty lax boss, he knows when it's time to be stricter, but overall he doesn't enjoy stressing his employees out, and does his best to figure out what works best for them and give them accomodations within reason. Adam is probably the best example of this, since he often gets stressed easily. It's impossible to avoid pairing Adam with Levi on shifts sometimes, since the place is a bit understaffed, but he still does his best to try and work around the inherent issue of "robot that can easily shut down at the sight of blood" working with "half-human with regenerative abilities that LOVES getting injured at any chance". Most people who've worked at the chain store he manages in Coldwood have positive things to say about it, even those who've been fired, since Avery is often willing to help them find new jobs, gives a grace period of a few more shifts after telling them the news, and will usually still give a few good words about them to wherever they apply to next, just as long as they weren't an actually horrendous employee to handle. He doesn't have any issues with bending company rules just a little bit to make the place a more positive environment, as long as it's not so drastic that it would risk his own job. At the same time though, sometimes dealing with the chaos of the town gets to him every now and then at work, especially when Levi is involved somehow. He never really gets angry at anyone, just disappointed, but still, man, dealing with these people can get exhausting.

Outside of work, he loves trying to get people in town together for things, both because it's an easy way to socialize for him, but perhaps also a little bit of an attempt to try and make the town a little more normal. Coldwood is isolated enough from other towns and cities as is, the people within don't need to be isolated from eachother too. Most commonly he does little barbecue events, his yard is big enough to fit plenty of people, everyone's invited so long as they don't stir up trouble. Which even them, he's pretty tolerant of some chaos, I mean, look where he's living. Only one person's managed to get banned from the barbecues, and it's Levi. Even then Avery feels bad for having to do that, Levi's not a bad guy, but, well, ..he can come back when he can control his impulses enough to not stick his hands on the burning grill, or stab himself with the knives and forks. That's a bit much to be happening at his own house, even if Levi can regenerate. Not the time and place man.

Avery is also rather into making sure he stays fit, going out for jogs often and exercising at home. It's part of what keeps him sane in this place, he's got a nice routine going with his exercise, his job, and hosting events, and that does a lot for keeping himself from falling into a weird pit and getting too obsessed with something else like many of the other townsfolk have.

TRIVIA

  • While he's certainly not ace or aro, no one in town really knows what he's interested in when it comes to people. No one tries to pry, but some people still get curious. At this point it seems like he's just married to grilling and his job.
  • Very tolerant of the weird shit that goes on in town. Levi's antics don't really surprise him that much or even really gross him out at all, it's more just a bit of a nuisance due to trying to handle both him and Adam being employees together.

LEVI FREEMAN [Employee]

Levi is. By far. The most exhausting employee Avery's ever dealt with. He's willing to put up with it, both because Levi's mom Heather is his friend, not a super close one, but a friend nonetheless, but also because Levi's been fired from every other job he's been at, and Avery feels kind of bad for him. He's never been fired for his work ethic, Levi's always very passionate about his jobs and tries to be as helpful as possible, pretty much never turning down extra shifts or random tasks given to him, he just has that godawful habit of injuring himself on the job, both on purpose and by just letting 'accidents' happen to him. Avery is pretty sure he's the only person who manages to be unfazed by this behavior, well, not completely unfazed, it's still a shock to see it up close and personal sometimes. But he can handle it, and so he's willing to work around this behavior, trying to discourage it, but understanding that it's....rather unlikely Levi will ever fully stop. As long as he isn't scaring off the customers too much or causing the store to lose profit, Avery won't fire him. Levi would have to fuck up pretty badly to get fired by now, Levi might be a little ball of chaos, but as much as Avery doesn't want to admit it, he's also basically doing the work of 3 employees at once everyday. How he manages that while also getting himself hurt so often is just as bewildering as Levi is in general.

ADAM [Employee]

Adam's a good employee, he can work for awhile with no issue on account of being a robot, he mostly keeps to himself and just does his job, and Avery's very thankful for that compared to the chaos of Levi. It's still a bit of a mess though trying to have Adam and Levi working in the same place though. Levi loves getting hurt every chance he can, and Adam has a major bug in his code that makes him freak out and shut down if he sees too much blood, or looks at injuries for too long. But because the store is understaffed, it's very hard to avoid putting them on shifts together. They seem to have worked something out on their own, but it does mean that Adam is more on edge all the time, and smaller things will get him more anxious. Managing these two is..a pain sometimes.

HEATHER FREEMAN [Friend]

They're not the closest friends, but Heather often comes to his barbecues, and they enjoy a good chat together when she does. She's often apologizing about Levi, and trying to say he's a good kid. Avery already knows this, despite Levi's insane behavior, he really is a kind and helpful person, but Heather insists upon it everytime, always thanking Avery for being willing to hire him. After she lets that out everytime though, their conversations are usually pretty normal, talking about whatever they've been interested in lately, Avery giving her recipes, and Heather sometimes giving him little crafts she's made in her free time. He can sort of tell that he's a big part in keeping her sane, having Levi for a kid can't be easy, even if he's moved out.

MARY WETHER [Friend]

Mary's a nice woman, she also tends to come to the barbecues often. Avery used to visit her as a patient for a little bit, not for anything too serious, mostly looking for some self-improvement, and maybe a little guidance in not letting this town drive him nuts like it seems to do to everyone else, then eventually deciding to stop. But they kept in contact. Honestly, most of what they talk about is bonding over how much of a handful Levi is. ..She might be breaking patient confidentiality a little bit by doing this, but it's not like Avery's gonna tell the whole town, it's just some venting between friends, and frankly, most of it is stuff that everyone in town already knows about Levi anyway. It's kind of hard to not notice his weird habits.
